In-Person Therapy for Men in Denver with a Board-Certified Counselor

If you’re like a lot of men, you’ve probably been carrying more than you let on. Is holding it all in starting to take a toll?

Therapy is a space to unpack it all, learn tools for growth, and start feeling more like yourself again.

Your friends and family probably know how to supportively listen. But healing, change, and growth take more than just a compassionate ear.

You need a trained guide who will listen, support, and challenge you.

My name is Mike Garrison.

I wasn't always a therapist. For nearly 25 years, I worked in both high-pressure roles in the Fortune 500, and also successfully acquired, operated, and sold my own business.

But here's the rest of my story: I’ve been that guy who looked like he had it all together on the outside. But inside? Well, I know what it’s like to feel stuck. To fight battles no one else can see. To be your own worst critic. What I’ve learned is this: What you run from, chases you. There’s no shortcut and no magic pill. Happiness doesn’t happen by pretending to have it all together. It starts when you get real with yourself, ask for help, and put in the work.

Today, as a board-certified counselor, I specialize in helping men in Colorado heal, change, and grow. (Please know that while I specialize in men's mental health, I welcome clients of any gender identity who feel we'd work well together.)

What It's Like to Work with Me

  • I offer a free 20-minute consultation via phone. We’ll talk about what you’d like to accomplish in therapy and get your questions answered as well.

  • In-Person sessions available near downtown Denver, virtual sessions available throughout Colorado.

  • Learn and grow with evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment work, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).

  • Clients describe my approach as straightforward, compassionate, and practical. Therapy with me isn’t meandering. It’s focused on insight, action, and meaningful progress.

Together, we’ll take a hard look at what's really going on.

Then, we’ll strategize about how to make real healing and growth happen in your life.

You Don’t Have to Do This Alone

Choosing a therapist is a very personal decision. Let’s start with a short phone conversation.

This call is free of charge and will provide us an opportunity to get to know one another and talk about what it will be like to work together.

I can give you a sense of how I approach therapy and you can ask any questions that are on your mind. Most importantly, you can see if I'm the right therapist for you.

Then, if everything sounds like a good fit, we compare calendars and schedule your first session.
