During the last few years of a ten year tenure, she was attending Southeast Community College in Lincoln, NE to take the classes she needed to become a Drug and Alcohol Counselor followed by attending Doane Lincoln where she earned a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling. She has worked as a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor for the past seven years. About a year ago, Wendy received her Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner License.
All of Wendy's life experiences have led her to this point. She offers a unique approach to counseling by including a creative outlet for her clients. Wendy has seen clients who have difficulty talking about what they have experienced in life. When they are given an opportunity to give their pain a voice through artistic expression, they are then able to talk about their problems. She provides the art experiences in a safe, accepting environment where all art materials are available on site. Clients are not judged on their artistic ability. This kind of counseling can be fun but is also very healing. It works well for trauma issues as well as depression, anxiety, stress and substance abuse issues. Wendy also offers counseling without the art activities if the client prefers not to use them.
